Tailly (Somme)

Tailly is a northern French village with 60 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Amiens, is part of the Communauté de communes du Sud -Ouest Amiénois, in the canton Molliens- Dreuil.

Geography

Tailly is situated on the D901 road department ( former Route nationale 1) just north of Warlus and about 4.5 km south of Airaines. The castle is located approximately 500 m west of the town. To Tailly heard the hamlet of L' Arbre -à- Mouches.

History

In Tailly, whose name is said to derive from the Latin Tilia ( linden ), traces of Gallic settlements have been found. The reign of Tailly was dependent of Aumale.

The castle was in the 20th century in the possession of the born in the neighboring Belloy -Saint- Léonard Philippe Leclerc General ( 1902-1947 ), who likes stayed here for hunting.

  • Built from 1730 Castle Tailly l'Arbre - aux- Mouches, 1995 registered as a monument historique ( Base Mérimée PA00135580 ) with park exhibition in memory of Leclerc and the Liberation of France.
