Emblems of Turkey
The Republic of Turkey was proclaimed on 29 October 1923, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and emerged from the Ottoman Empire. Until then, the Ottoman Empire led a coat of arms was officially introduced in 1876.
Since the founding of the Republic, in addition to the national flag out no official coat of arms more. Instead, an emblem is used, the the flag image, usually in a red oval shows the white crescent and star, as it has also been used in the Ottoman Empire. The moon is represented as a growing star. Today, the emblem is also depicted with a crescent moon lying and the state name " Republic of Turkey ".

Unofficial State Emblem
1925, a competition was launched to design a national coat of arms by the then Ministry of Education ( Maarif Vekaleti ). The winner was the design of Namik Ismail. This coat of arms was never approved and therefore remained unofficial. You can see the state symbols as in today's emblem. Among them is the gray wolf ( Bozkurt ), one of the symbols of the Turkic peoples.
