Émile Lachapelle

Émile Henri Lachapelle (* September 12, 1905; † February 1988) was a Swiss athlete who has participated in the Olympic Games in rowing and sailing.

As a member of the Société Nautique de Genève LaChapelle In 1922 at the European Championships in Barcelona as the helmsman of Zweiers by Édouard Candeveau and Alfred Felber on, the Swiss boat won the title and defended it a year later in Como successful. Also at the 1924 Olympics on the Seine at Argenteuil won the three Swiss.

In coxless four Emile Albrecht, Alfred Probst, Eugen Sigg and Hans Walter won the bronze medal. These four rowers who qualified along with the helmsman Fritz Loosli for the final in the four with coxswain. According to Volker Kluge Loosli steered the boat but only in the flow and in the repechage, the final Lachapelle drove the boat and won his second gold medal.

Émile Lachapelle was a very versatile athlete. In 1923, he was with Servette Geneva Swiss Junior Champion and 1930 likewise with Swiss Geneva Servette Hockey champion.

1941, 1942, 1947 and 1948 was LaChapelle Swiss champion again, this time in sailing. At the 1948 Olympic Games, he finished seventh in the six- meter class.
