Groß Molzahn

Great Molzahn is a municipality in the western part of the North West in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Rehna based in the same city.

Geography

The community in the United Molzahn Schaalsee lies about eight kilometers north- east of Ratzeburg and 17 kilometers southwest from Headquarters Rehna. The nearby Great Molzahns is rich in hills, forests and lakes ( lake Mechower, Lankower lake, Röggeliner lake). The lakes are designated as nature reserves.

As you move through the center of the village, the Rundlingsdorf so-called, you will notice strong differences in height. The height profile is running from north to south and is the former flow direction of the Weichsel ice age glacier.

Once filled with water, sections of the hard to reach lowlands were piped to be used for agriculture. The acreage is just over 45 points. To make the agricultural areas with the most fertile in the state of Mecklenburg- Vorpommern dar.

The appearance of the non- farmed land is determined by wild flowering plants, as well as deciduous and coniferous trees. All of these areas are protected by inclusion in the conservation area. History

1230 Molzahn was first mentioned in Ratzeburg tithe register.

In August 1945, seven youths were arrested by the Soviet NKVD and Five Oaks in Special Camp No. 9 ( Neubrandenburg ) interned. About their further fate is not known.

In the communist era, the church was in the restricted area. The inner German border - now border to Schleswig -Holstein - is less than three miles away.

North of the village was built around 1970, a dairy farm, which farm devoted today. From this period are no longer in operation Machine and Tractor Station ( MTS) is derived. Great Molzahn was one of the four bases in the art circle Gadebusch.

Attractions

On riding tourists and hikers, the so-called " frontier " tour around the lake Lankower is tailored. There is a section of the Monk Ernestus - trail route Rehna - Ratzeburg. The nearby Great Molzahns with agricultural land, wetlands and swamp forests are habitats of rare species such as cranes, cormorants, sea eagles, bittern and fire-bellied toad.

Transport links

Due to its proximity to the highway 208 Great Molzahn is well connected to the national road network. Twelve kilometers north passes the Federal Highway 20. In the surrounding towns Ratzeburg, Rehna and Gadebusch consist railway connections. About the neighboring community Schlagsdorf and Wakenitzrestaurant bridge at Roth Husen in the town of Gross Sarau is connected to the B 207 and the A 20 direction Hamburg / Lübeck.
