Heiligenstedtenerkamp

Heiligenstedtenerkamp is a municipality in the district of Steinburg, in Schleswig- Holstein. It is the municipality with the longest one-word name in Germany with 21 characters.

Geography and transport

Heiligenstedtenerkamp is located directly southwest of Itzehoe. East of the village there is the Itzehoer district Wellenkamp, the south is Kremperheide, to the west and northwest Hodorf Heiligenstedten. The Itzehoer city center can be reached by bus in 15 to 20 minutes

The Federal Highway 23 or State Road 5 are within 5 km.

History

Is first mentioned in the records Heiligenstedtenerkamp in 1300, but it is only since about 1660 as a community. At that time there lived people who were working as employees of the castle in the nearby Heiligenstedten, hence the name " Kamp ".

1812 a primary school was founded, which in 1972 superseded by the " elementary school Wellenkamp ", so the house has since been used as a kindergarten.
