Moreuil

Moreuil is a commune with 4032 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region; it belongs to the district Montdidier and is capital of the canton Moreuil. The city lies on the River Avre.

History

Moreuil lies on the Roman road that connects Compiegne and Amiens Montdidier with. At about 800 reports of a castle. In the Middle Ages an Order of St. John was built, which was destroyed in 1752.

1965, the town of Castel was incorporated.
