Rögnitz
Rögnitz is a municipality in the southern part of the North West in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Gadebusch based in the same city.
Place name
The place name derives from the Slavic word Rogu or rakyta for Horn and means as much as Horndorf.
Geography
The community Rögnitz in Schaalsee is just a few kilometers east of the Schaalsees, which forms the border to Schleswig -Holstein. The hilly area around the town is part of the catchment area of the shields, which flows via the Schaale and brews into the Elbe. In the south, the municipality borders the district of Ludwigsburg pleasure Parchim.
To Rögnitz include the districts Bentin ( on July 1, 1950 incorporated ) and Woldhof.
The community is still dominated by agriculture.
Rögnitz is the only municipality of the former district Hagenow, which was incorporated in the District of North West Mecklenburg.

Transport links
14 km north of Rögnitz lies the small town Gadebusch. There is connection to the national highway system ( Federal Road 208, State Road 104) and connected by train to Schwerin. The highway driveway Wittenburg is about 15 km ( 24 A from Hamburg to Berlin).
