Wrist, Germany

Wrist is a municipality in the district of Steinburg, in Schleswig- Holstein.

Geography and transport

Wrist is located on the railway line Hamburg- Altona- Kiel between Kellinghusenstraße and Bad Bramstedt with its own railway station. Federal highway 206 runs through the community.

A small river, the Bramau, flows through the town. In the summer you can swim in the Bramau, many canoeists use the Bramau on the way of Bad Bramstedt after Kellinghusenstraße in the sturgeon.

The municipality consists of the villages Dammhof, Freudenthal, Heidrehm, Stellau, Weidenhof, Witten Kamp and Wurth.

History

Next to Stellau defeated Valdemar II in 1201 together with his brother King Knuth VI. of Denmark, Count Adolf III. Schauenburg and Holstein in the Battle of Stellau. 1230 inaugurates the Archbishop Gebhard II of Bremen near this battlefield a Romanesque stone church, which still preserved church Stellau.

The church today Wrist created in 1938 by the union of the two communities Stellau and Wrist.

Policy
