Zambia national football team

The Zambian national football team is the football team of the African state of Zambia. You will also Chipolopolo ( " the bullets " ) called and controlled by the Zambian Football Association. History

April 27, 1993 18 players, the coach and several association officials died in a plane crash off the coast of Gabon. The crew was on the way to a World Cup qualifier in Senegal (→ Main article: Gabon Air Disaster ). The then newly formed team failed at the end very scarce in qualifying for the 1994 World Cup in Morocco. A draw would have been enough, but they lost 0-1. In the subsequent African Nations Cup in 1994 but was achieved then Zambia until then best result in this competition (along with 1974) and finished second. One in 1996 then again third, before disappearing in the African average. World cup

In qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil, Zambia met in the group stage to Ghana, Sudan and Lesotho. The decision to win the group fell at the last game that Zambia lost in Ghana with 1:2 and thus behind Ghana took second place in the group, which the qualification was missed.
