Salouël

Salouël ( Picard: Saloué ) is a northern French village with 4010 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Amiens, is part of the Communauté d' agglomà Amiens Métropole, in the canton Boves.

Geography

The south adjacent to Amiens and Pont -de -Metz church in Amiénois lies partly on the left (western) bank of the Selle, of them - a large hospital complex, sports facilities (including golf course) and the settlement of La Bailly - at its right. The municipal area extends over the Westast the Autoroute A29 and its junction with the A16 Autoroute, in the east to beyond the department road D210. The church is of the streets department D1029 ( former Route nationale 29), D138 and D8 through it. The railway line Amiens - Rouen runs through the community.

History

Excavations have remains from the Mesolithic period unearthed. Also several Gallo- Roman and Merovingian dwellings were found. In the Middle Ages was operated in Salouël viticulture, such as field-names testify. At the Selle a fulling mill was operated. The community is dominated by the craft since the Middle Ages. The Church's separation from the parish in Saleux took place in 1864. Since 1879 Salouël in the canton of Boves. Since about 1970, he was the settlement of university institutes and the " Hôpital Sud".
