1998 Copa Libertadores

The Copa Libertadores 1998, from this year due to the sponsorship of the automaker Toyota Toyota Libertadores Copa also was the 39th edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. It was attended by 21 teams, each including the national champion of the nine best CONMEBOL countries and the Second and two representatives from Mexico and Venezuela, the determined two remaining qualifying places. The field was completed by defending champion Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte. The tournament began on 25 February and ended on 26 August 1998 with the final second leg. The Brazilian representative CR Vasco da Gama won the final against Barcelona SC Guayaquil and for the first time the Copa Libertadores.
