Besenthal

Besenthal is a municipality in the district of Lauenburg, in Schleswig- Holstein.

Geography

The community consists of Besenthal and the hamlets Sarnekow and Gudower mill. The entire area ( Hellbachtal ) is under landscape protection and nature conservation. It never took place an area merging, so that today a typical hedgerow landscape has been preserved.

History

The district Sarnekow was in 1194 first mentioned in Isfriedschen division agreement and is listed with Besenthal in Ratzeburg tithe register of 1230. The two villages are situated on the oldest road salt from Lüneburg to Lübeck. Since 1948, the village belonged to the Official Gudow that was summarized in 1971 by the Office for Official Sterley Gudow - Sterley. After the dissolution of the congregation joined in 2007 at the Office Büchenberg.
