The mansion Steinhorst of 1721 /22, a large, listed in brick baroque building with a hipped roof, is one of the most beautiful Baroque buildings in the country. The designs for this building came from the eminent architect Johannes Nicolaus Kuhn, who is best known for his numerous works in Hamburg.

Since the estate was on the border between Lauenburg and Stormarn, it caused 1737 to 1739 a dispute between George II, King of Great Britain and Duke of Hanover and Christian VI. of Denmark, who raised both tenure and in which the former owner of the estate was in debt. During the negotiations, the Danish ambassador in Hamburg Horst Stein was occupied, after which George II did attack Hanoverian troops that were superior to the Danish squatters and they could sell.
