Pogeez

Pogeez is a municipality in the district of Lauenburg, in Schleswig- Holstein east of Hamburg.

Geography

Pogeez is located on the western shore of the lake of Ratzeburg in the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park. Through the village the main road leads 207 ( Old Salt Road ), the route is replaced by a ring road that is under construction.

History

Pogeez is of Slavic origin. The village was given in 1228 by Albrecht, the first Duke of Lauenburg, the Order of St. John of Jerusalem. Already Pogeez 1250 was sold for 700 Lübsche Mark Reinfeld to the monastery with the villages small Disnack, United Disnack and Wendish Pogeez ( Holstendorf ) and was until 1482 in its possession. After the villages were lauenburgisch again.

Incorporations

The formerly independent communities Pogeez and small Disnack merged on February 1, 1974 voluntarily together.
