Lankau

Lankau is a municipality in the district of Lauenburg, in Schleswig- Holstein. New Lankau is a district.

Geography

The municipal area is characterized by hills, forests and small lakes ( such as Lake Lankauer ). The Elbe -Lübeck Canal forms the western boundary of the municipal area.

History

The first written reference to the year 1208. 1928 was the incorporation of Gretenberge, anchor and Good Marie Wohlde on the grounds of the former convent Marie Wohlde.

Since 1948, the village belonged to the Official nuts, since 2007 to the Official Sandesneben - nuts.

In New Lankau located since 1898 in the Elbe -Lübeck Canal the thunder lock, a lock which is operated by the principle of Lübeck and hydraulic engineer inspector Ludwig Hotopp exclusively by hydropower and thus generated high and low pressure air.
