Lankau
Lankau is a municipality in the district of Lauenburg, in Schleswig- Holstein. New Lankau is a district.
Geography
The municipal area is characterized by hills, forests and small lakes ( such as Lake Lankauer ). The Elbe -Lübeck Canal forms the western boundary of the municipal area.
History
The first written reference to the year 1208. 1928 was the incorporation of Gretenberge, anchor and Good Marie Wohlde on the grounds of the former convent Marie Wohlde.
Since 1948, the village belonged to the Official nuts, since 2007 to the Official Sandesneben - nuts.

Economy and infrastructure
The community was rural structured, there are now a number of commercial enterprises, such as a Farm Cafe, a company that specializes in pumps and electric plants, a garden, and landscaping operations, as well as a trade for fruits and vegetables. Since 1952 there is a school camp in the district of Neu- Lankau.
The center of Lankau is located about four kilometers north- west of the state road 207 Lübeck- Hamburg and the railway line Lübeck- Lüneburg. The nearest railway stations are Ratzeburg and Mölln, each about six kilometers away. These stations are made on weekdays from morning until noon bus.
Attractions
In the list of cultural monuments in Lankau are registered in the list of monuments of Schleswig- Holstein cultural monuments.
In New Lankau located since 1898 in the Elbe -Lübeck Canal the thunder lock, a lock which is operated by the principle of Lübeck and hydraulic engineer inspector Ludwig Hotopp exclusively by hydropower and thus generated high and low pressure air.
