Giesensdorf

Giesensdorf is a municipality in the district of Lauenburg, in Schleswig- Holstein.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1194 as Giselbrechtestorp in Isfriedschen Teilungsvertrag documented. After repeated pledges and sales of the village from 1424 to 1937 was an exclave of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck. The Giesensdorfer Bauernvögte were members of Lübeck citizenship. In 1937 came the village through the Greater Hamburg Act on the former Prussian province of Schleswig -Holstein.

In the field Giesensdorfer Mark several grave mounds from the Bronze Age are demonstrated and various individual finds of tools, weapons and pottery shards occupied. A Roman gold coin found here, minted in 262 for the Emperor Postumus could indicate early long-distance trade.

Policy

Since the local elections in 2013, the voters Community WGG all seven seats in the municipal council.
