Linau

Linau is a municipality in the district of Lauenburg, in Schleswig- Holstein.

Geography

Linau located on the edge of the nature reserve Hahnheide.

The municipality comprises the towns Bollweg, Diekkaten, Feilberg Flachsröte, Linau and Linaubusch.

History

1230, the Slavic place inception in Ratzeburg tithe register was first mentioned. 1291 and 1349 the once important castle Linau the robber barons Scarpenbergh was destroyed, the remains can be seen today. 1471 sold Volrad of Scharpenberg Castle and village finally to Duke John IV of Saxe- Lauenburg. In the formation of the magisterial districts of 1889, the municipality and the former estate belonged to the District Koberg. After the Second World War, the community came first to the Official Wentorf and after its resolution to the Official Sandesneben.
