Mustin, Schleswig-Holstein

Mustin is a municipality in the district of Lauenburg, in Schleswig- Holstein east of Ratzeburg.

History

The place is probably of Slavic origin. In 1194 the Church in Mustin was mentioned for the first time. The Mary Magdalene church dates from the 12th century, but has been expanded and changed again and again over the centuries. It was built in the early days, especially in the area of the choir, made ​​of granite blocks. In the buttresses there are those of these granite blocks, others are made ​​of stones or brick. The vaulted ceiling fixtures are the late Gothic period. The wooden bell tower was added later.

1989 was opened at the present Federal Road 208 in the wake of German reunification by the GDR authorities, an additional border crossing.

The name refers to the Slavic word MOSTI for power or MOSTU for bridge.
