Breklum

Breklum ( North Frisian: Brääklem ) is a town on the border between march and Schleswig shear Geest in the district of North Friesland Schleswig -Holstein. Borsbüll (Danish: Borsbøl; North Frisian: Buursbel ) and Riddorf ( Ridderup; Rääderup ) are in the municipal area.

Geography and transport

Breklum is located on the main road 5, the Green coast road between Husum and Niebüll and the march train from Hamburg to Westerland. Is the nature reserve Beltringharder polder on the North Sea coast west of Breklum.

History

The Breklum church, which was probably dedicated to Saint Olaf, was built around 1200. It is regarded as a special building in the late Romanesque brick in the Schleswig region. The thick walls, which consist partly of large field stones, the church as a fortified church in which the residents of the surrounding area could find protection during raids. Breklum was a parish, and the church formed in the Norder Goes Harde a center for the residents of this Harde. In the 14th century, far to the parish counted communities Bordelum and Drelsdorf gained their respective independence. Until 1530, also Bredstedt belonged to the parish Breklum.

In 1876, the Breklum Pastor Christian Jensen ( 1839-1900 ) the Nordelbische Missionary Society (now the Center for Mission and Ecumenism - North Church worldwide) that forms missionaries up today and sent to many countries and regions such as India, East Africa, Indonesia and China. After the founding of the Prussian province of Schleswig -Holstein in 1866, originated from the parish Breklum a country parish church. It included the eleven Dorfschaften alpine village, Borsbüll, Breklum, Fehsholm, Högel, Lütjenholm, Riddorf, Sönnebüll, Struckum, Vollstedt and Wallsbüll.

1934 Kirchspielslandgemeinde municipality was dissolved and the village communities were autonomous rural communities. That same year, the communities Borsbüll and Riddorf after Breklum and Fehsholm and Wallsbüll were incorporated to Struckum. These communities are still part of the church community Breklum.

  • Of the 17 seats in the municipal council voters Community WFTU had since the local elections 2008 eight seats, the CDU and the SPD seven two.
  • In the local elections on May 26, 2013, the WFTU was 43.6 percent, six seats. The CDU came to 38.1 percent and five seats. On the SPD accounted for 18.3 per cent and two seats. It was awarded to only 13 seats. The turnout was 51.6 percent.

Economy

The community Breklum has a wide range of services and retail facilities. In addition, there is a specialized hospital for psychiatric and psychosomatic disorders in the community. The residential use is now more important than agriculture for the place.

Sports

The SV Germania Breklum is one of the largest non-urban sports clubs in North Frisia. On 19 June 2010, the new sports park was inaugurated.
