Lexington County is a county located in the state of South Carolina in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Lexington.

Geography

The County is located just west of the geographic center of South Carolina and has an area of ​​1963 square kilometers, of which 152 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Richland County, Orangeburg County, Calhoun County, Aiken County, Saluda County and Newberry County.

History

Lexington County was formed in 1804. It was named after the Battle of Lexington in the Revolutionary War.
