Horry County, South Carolina

Horry County is a county located in the state of South Carolina in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Conway.

Geography

The County is located in the extreme east of South Carolina is bordered to the northeast by North Carolina, on the southeast by the Atlantic Ocean and has an area of 3250 square kilometers, of which 314 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Robeson County ( North Carolina), Columbus County ( North Carolina), Brunswick County (North Carolina ), Georgetown County, Marion County and Dillon County.

History

Horry County was formed in 1802. It was named after Peter Horry, a soldier in the Revolutionary War.
