Mühlenbarbek is a municipality in the district of Steinburg, in Schleswig- Holstein.

Geography and transport

Mühlenbarbek is located 3 km west of Kellinghusenstraße and 10 km east of Itzehoe on the main road 206 from Itzehoe to Bad Bramstedt. Through the municipality runs the Mühlenbarbeker Au. From 1889 to 1975 the railway station was Mühlenbarbek Wrist Itzehoe.

History

Mühlenbarbek was first mentioned in 1273 as " berbeke ". The name comes from a stream of the geest and the prehistoric East-West Hauptverkehrweg between Itzehoe and Lübeck cuts at this point and can be used as "Bear Creek " or " Beaver Brook " (as the name variant " beverbeke " simultaneously occurred ) be translated.
