Geography

If home is situated on the gentle slope of a promontory ( slip face ), which is formed by a close Moselschleife. Upstream are located on the left bank of the wine-growing town Klüsserath, on the right bank of the Moselle wine town of Leiwen, downstream of the wine-growing town Neumagen -Dhron lies on the right bank of the Moselle.

History

Founded from a Frankish settlement, Trittenheim 893 was first mentioned in records in Prüm land register and for a long time Kurtrierisches area. A mention is also found in a document of Pope Eugene III. of 1148, in the Abbey of St. Eucharius a farm and the church were awarded, plus the Zehntrechten in Trittenheim. Beginning in 1794, Trittenheim under French rule, 1815, the place on the Congress of Vienna was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia.

Change in the community association Schweich

Due to the planned restructuring of the Association of Municipalities in Rhineland -Palatinate, the Trittenheimer citizens decided in March 2010 to over 90 % for connection to the community association Schweich on the Roman wine road and so it goes into the district of Trier -Saar castle. The council followed the request and agreed to vote unanimously.

On 14 September 2011 the Rhineland-Palatinate state government agreed to the merger plans, which the municipality January 1, 2012 from the resolved municipality Neumagen -Dhron, which belonged to the district of Bernkastel- Wittlich, in the municipality Schweich on the Roman wine road and thus in could change the district of Trier -Saar castle.

Parish council

The local council in Trittenheim consists of 16 council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 a proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman. The 16 seats in the municipal council are divided into two groups of voters.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms shows a golden Abtstab. It stands for the Trittenheimer Johannes Trithemius, who was abbot of Sponheim in the district of Bad Kreuznach in the 15th century. The red cross on a silver is the coat of arms of the Electorate of Trier, the silver T stands for passage home.

  • The two old ferry towers on both sides of the Moselle bridge are the Fährturmpaar on the Moselle only remaining. They served as Fährleutewohnung and the anchoring of the Fährtaue, where the ferry from the shore was taken to shore, driven by the Mosel flow.

Economy

If home is significantly influenced by winegrowing and with 236 hectares under vine Piesport, cell, Leiwen, Konz, Neumagen -Dhron, Mehring and Bernkastel -Kues is the eighth largest wine-growing town of Mosel. It is traditionally mainly grown Riesling. Best-known vineyards are the " Trittenheimer pharmacy " and " Trittenheimer Altärchen ". Viticulture also provides the basis for tourism, which also represents an important economic sector.
