1961 Copa Libertadores

The Copa Campeones de América in 1961 was the second edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. 9 teams took part, including 8 national champion last year from Brazil and the winner of the cup competition, the Taça Brasil, since there is no national championship was not held. Only Venezuela had no representatives at the start. The tournament began on 2 April and ended on 11 June 1961 with the final second leg.

The defending champions Peñarol Montevideo was able to prevail against SE Palmeiras from Brazil in the finals and won the title again.
