Geography

Geographical Location

The village lies on the Dithmarsch Geest near Albers village in a wooded area and carries over to the Kiel Canal.

Community structure

The municipality belongs to the district Bunsoh Westerau.

History

Several stone tombs such as the megalithic grave of Bunsoh bear witness to the early occupation of the site and its surroundings. On the basis of found grave goods, especially pottery, this has been dated to 3500-2800 BC, and the Neolithic Funnel Beaker Culture Act. Coat of arms

The upper half of the municipal coat of arms shows the shell of stone Bunsoh that one has discovered under one of the many grave hill in the municipality. This stone is characterized by numerous bowl-shaped notches, also with double rings, shallow grooves, Radkreuzen and representations of hands. The interpretation of these signs is not fully clarified. A wheel cross has been taken on behalf of all other characters in the coat of arms, the whole stone grave should bear witness to the early settlement of the place and its surroundings.
