Kaiser-Wilhelm-Koog

The Kaiser- Wilhelm- polder ( Low German: Kaiser- Willem- polder and Willemskoog ) is a municipality in the southern Dithmarschen in Schleswig -Holstein. The municipality consists of the villages of mill village and fishing village.

Geography

The place is a march and area community and agriculturally structured. As polder it was obtained by dikes and drainage from the North Sea. It is bordered to the west immediately to the Nationalpark Schleswig -Holstein Wadden Sea.

Policy

Since the local elections in 2013, voters Communities AKWV six and the FWG three seats in the municipal council.

Coat of arms

Blazon: "In Blue, from the lower plate margin growth, a golden field of grain, consisting of ten unbegrannten wheat ears side by side, covered with eleven in the form of the Latin letter W arranged blue cornflower blossoms; about three 2: 1 Asked silver gulls with golden beaks ".

The municipality operates since 1899 own coat of arms, which was amended in 1983, and since 1983 also has its own flag.

Economy and infrastructure

In the Kaiser -Wilhelm- enclosed land is coined historically predominantly agricultural, so mainly cabbage, carrots and sugar beets are grown on the march ground.

Due to the windy location right on the North Sea in the Kaiser -Wilhelm -Koog on 6 July 1983, the then largest wind turbine in the world, the so-called GROWIAN with a rated electrical output of 3 megawatts, built. Due to technical problems, the plant was but shut down and dismantled in August 1987. Here the first wind farm in the Federal Republic was opened by the time 30 wind turbines and put into operation on 24 August 1987, the wind farm west coast. The annual electricity production was 19 million kWh. The largest wind test field in the world is also located here.

As an additional source of income, some farmers use their large roof areas for photovoltaic, so that the community one of the highest per capita Einspeisequoten Germany has far into the grid of E.ON Hanse. Thus, the community reached one of the top places in the solar Bundesliga.
