Geography

Hemmingstedt located in the center of the circle Dithmar between the cities of Heath and Meldorf on the main road 5 The North Sea can be reached by car in 20 minutes. History

The parish Hemmingstedt was first mentioned in 1323. In the battle of Hemmingstedt on February 17, 1500 Dithmarsch farmers beat led by Wulf Isebrand the Danish army under John, in personal union king of Denmark, Norway and Sweden, and his brother Friedrich, Duke of Holstein. In Hemmingstedt is an oil refinery.
