Busenwurth

Busenwurth is a municipality in the district of Dithmarschen in Schleswig-Holstein. Busenwurtherdeich and Wolfenbüttel located in the municipal area.

History

Busenwurth consists of two, about a kilometer apart Wurtendörfern. Their ages have documented archaeological excavations. Southshore Busenwurth was in the middle of the 1st century when a group of several stable residential houses on a levee in a tidal creek. The mound was increased by 150 and leave around the year 200. A resettlement of the mound took place in the 12th century.

Norder Busenwurth is younger, ranging earliest back only to the mid -11th century. Excavations reported here after a building from this period. Both mounds were included in the medieval sea wall of Dithmarsch Südermarsch, which is, however, no longer here.
