Wesseln is a municipality in the district of Dithmarschen in Schleswig-Holstein.

Geography
The community is adjacent to the county seat heath and benefits from the proximity to the city both by increased influx as well as a commercial area, especially with retail. In Wesseln there is a primary school and a chapel belonging to the Parish of St. Andrew Weddingstedt.
Geographical Location
The municipal area is the Rugenbarg ( 13.5 m above sea level. NN ), a passage grave. Like most Geest communities in the region has Wesseln a ring tab guild.
History
Some historians think it likely that there used to be on the community site of today's marketplace Heider. The name comes either ago by exchange or purchase, but he probably goes back to a persons name. Also not sure but likely is it that farmers from Wesseln founded the side nearer to the North Sea parish Wesselburen is. ( Low German: " De Boer Wesselner ", has become over the years to Wessel Buren, means as much as " The Wesselner peasants " )
