Tielenhemme

Tielenhemme is a municipality in the district of Dithmarschen in Schleswig-Holstein.

Community

Tielenhemme is right on the rivers Eider and Tielenau. The municipality consists of the three districts Schütting dyke Eiderdeich and King Ferry and from four roads, two of which are summer cottages.

Until December 12, 1960 ran a public ferry, the ferry Hohner, on the Eider. Since the closure of the ferry is now operated by a Fährverein.

History

The community was originally created from the three former Eider Islands See Brook, Hulpeshemme and Tielenhemme. This was a point of contention between Dithmar and landscape Stapelholm for a long time. On the northern tip Tielenhemmes was a castle of the dukes of the Duchy of Schleswig, which was directed against the Dithmarsch. Here was also to 1500 the administrative headquarters of the landscape Stapelholm. After the victory at the Battle of Hemmingstedt the castle and the three islands fell to the Dithmarschers. 1623, the islands were zusammengedeicht to Tielenhemmer polder and connected to the Dithmarsch land area.

Policy

Since the local elections in 2013, the voters Community WGT all seven seats in the municipal council.

Personalities

The writer Sarah Kirsch (1935-2013) lived since 1983 in Tielenhemme. The urn with her ashes were buried in the garden of their house.
