Hochdonn

Hochdonn is a municipality in the district of Dithmarschen in Schleswig-Holstein.

Geography and transport

The municipality is located on the North Sea-Baltic Canal. The municipality's area is a 42 -meter-high, double-track railway bridge located over the channel. The railway line ( " marching train "), which in 1920 was transferred to this route, was the first connection of the village on the German long-distance network; the nearest railway station is located in Burg (Dithmarschen ). But you also get there on channel loading and unloading space as well as one of the five channel ferries between Brunsbuttel and Rendsburg, where even cars and pedestrians can cross the channel. History
