Marne ( Low German: Marn ) is a town in Schleswig- Holstein ( since 1891 ) in Dithmarschen. It is a sub- center and the seat of the Office Marne -Nordsee.

Name

Marne was called in the 12th century as Myrne, in the 15th century as Roden Roden Merne and Marre. In the early 16th century, the name Marne appears, also in 1559 Merne. The name comes from the Old Saxon and means settlement on the high banks.
