Golden Valley County (North Dakota)
The Golden Valley County is a county located in the state of North Dakota in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Beach.
Geography
The County is located just south in the far west of North Dakota, bordering Montana and has an area of 2596 square kilometers, of which 1 square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: McKenzie County, Billings County, Slope County, Fallon County ( Montana) and Wibaux County ( Montana).
History
Golden Valley County was formed in 1912. It was named after the area of Golden Valley in the same County.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Golden Valley County 1,924 people in 761 households, and 506 families. The population density was 0.74 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 97.77 percent White, 0.73 percent Native American, 0.10 percent Asian, and 0.31 percent from other races; 1.09 percent were descended from two or more races. 1.04 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 761 households out of which 29.2 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 58.3 percent were married couples living together, 4.9 percent were single mothers, 33.4 percent were non-families, 31.5 percent of all households and 15.8 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 3.01.
Based on the county the population was spread out 28.3 percent of residents under the age of 18, 5.1 percent between 18 and 24 years, 22.2 percent between 25 and 44 years, 23.0 percent between 45 and 64 years and 21.3 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 92.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.1 men statistically.
The median income for a household was $ 29,967, and the median income for a family was $ 37,105. Males have a median income of $ 25,478, women $ 18,000. The per capita income was $ 14,173. 10.8 percent of families and 15.3 percent of families were below the poverty line. Of these, 21.4 percent were children or adolescents under age 18 and 7.7 percent of those 65 years.
