Geography

The County is located just south in the far west of North Dakota, bordering Montana and has an area of ​​2596 square kilometers, of which 1 square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: McKenzie County, Billings County, Slope County, Fallon County ( Montana) and Wibaux County ( Montana).

History

Golden Valley County was formed in 1912. It was named after the area of Golden Valley in the same County.
