Kidder County, North Dakota
The Kidder County is a county located in the state of North Dakota in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Steele.
Geography
The County is located just southeast of the geographic center of North Dakota and has an area of 3712 square kilometers, of which 213 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Wells County, Stutsman County, Logan County, Emmons County, Burleigh County and Sheridan County.
History
Kidder County was formed in 1873. It was named after Jefferson Parrish Kidder, a delegate of the Dakota Territory in the 44th and 45th U.S. Congress.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Kidder County 2,753 people in 1,158 households and 787 families. The population density was 1 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 99.49 percent White, 0.18 percent African American, 0.11 percent Native American, and 0.07 percent of Asians; 0.15 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.58 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 1,158 households out of which 27.2 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 60.7 percent were married couples living together, 4.1 percent were single mothers, 32.0 percent were non-families, 29.9 percent of all households and 17.7 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.34 and the average family size was 2.91.
Based on the county the population was spread from 23.2 percent population under 18 years, 5.0 percent between 18 and 24 years, 22.9 percent between 25 and 44 years, 24.9 percent between 45 and 64 years and 24.0 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 103.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were statistically 100.1 males.
The median income for a household was $ 25,389, and the median income for a family was $ 30,469. Males have a median income of $ 23,056, women $ 17,250. The per capita income was $ 14,270. 17.6 percent of families and 19.8 percent of families were below the poverty line. Of these, 20.4 percent were children or adolescents under age 18 and 23.3 percent of those 65 years.
