Grant County (North Dakota)
The Grant County is a county located in the state of North Dakota in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Carson.
Geography
The County is located southwest of the geographic center of North Dakota, is around 10 km to the south from the border to South Dakota and has an area of 4315 square kilometers, of which 17 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Morton County, Sioux County, Adams County, Hettinger County and Stark County.
The Heart River flows through the county.
History
Grant County was formed in 1916. It was named after Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of the United States.

According to the census in 2000, lived in Grant County 2,841 people in 1,195 households and 800 families. The population density was 1 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 96.90 percent White, 1.72 percent Native American, 0.35 percent Asian, and 0.35 percent from other races; 0.67 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.60 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
As a whole, the county next to the English language is also the German language spread. It is still spoken by approximately 12.7 percent of the local population.
Of the 1,195 households out of which 25.1 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 60.8 percent were married couples living together, 3.8 percent were single mothers, 33.0 percent were non-families, 31.8 percent of all households and 17.9 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.30 and the average family size was 2.90 persons.
Based on the county the population was spread from 23.4 percent population under 18 years, 4.3 percent between 18 and 24 years, 20.5 percent between 25 and 44 years, 27.1 percent between 45 and 64 years and 24.7 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 46 years. For every 100 females there were 104.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were statistically 100.3 males.
The median income for a household was $ 23,165, and the median income for a family was $ 30,625. Males have a median income of $ 21,537, women $ 17,949. The per capita income was $ 14,616. 14.7 percent of families and 20.3 percent of families were below the poverty line. Of these, 24.7 percent were children or adolescents under age 18 and 20.9 percent of those 65 years.
