Eddy County (North Dakota)
The Eddy County is a county located in the state of North Dakota in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is New Rockford.
Geography
The County is located north-east of the geographic center of North Dakota and has an area of 1889 square kilometers, of which 37 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Benson County, Nelson County, Griggs County, Foster County and Wells County.
History
Eddy County was formed in 1885. It was named for Ezra B. Eddy, one of the first bankers of this area in Fargo.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Eddy County 2,757 people in 1,164 households and 743 families. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 96.37 percent White, 0.07 percent African American, 2.36 percent Native American, 0.15 percent Asian, 0.07 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander, and 0.25 percent from other races groups; 0.73 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.62 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 1,164 households out of which 27.7 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 56.4 percent were married couples living together, 5.0 percent were single mothers, 36.1 percent were non-families, 34.2 percent of all households and 20.4 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.30 and the average family size was 2.96.
Based on the county the population was spread from 23.6 percent population under 18 years, 6.1 percent between 18 and 24 years, 22.5 percent between 25 and 44 years, 23.1 percent between 45 and 64 years and 24.7 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 95.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.3 men statistically.
The median income for a household was $ 28,642, and the median income for a family was $ 37,625. Males have a median income of $ 24,063, women $ 20,344. The per capita income was $ 15,941. 6.9 percent of families and 9.7 percent of families were below the poverty line. Of these, 11.5 percent were children or adolescents under age 18 and 11.0 percent of those 65 years.
