Emmons County, North Dakota

Emmons County is a county located in the state of North Dakota in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Linton.

Geography

The County is located in southern North Dakota, adjacent to South Dakota and has an area of 4027 square kilometers, of which 116 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Burleigh County, Kidder County, Logan County, McIntosh County, Campbell County ( South Dakota), Sioux County and Morton County.

History

Emmons County was formed in 1879. It was named after James Emmons, an early businessman of the area in Bismarck.
