Billings County, North Dakota

Billings County is a county located in the state of North Dakota in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Medora.

Geography

The County is located in southwestern North Dakota, in the west is approximately 45 km from the border of Montana and has an area of ​​2987 square kilometers, of which 5 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: McKenzie County, Dunn County, Stark County, Slope County and Golden Valley County.

The Heart River rises in the County.

History

Billings County was formed in 1879. It was named for Frederick H. Billings, president of the Northern Pacific Railroad.
