Mountrail County is a county located in the state of North Dakota in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Stanley.

Geography

The County is located in the central northwestern North Dakota and has an area of ​​5027 square kilometers, of which 303 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Burke County, Ward County, McLean County, Dunn County, McKenzie County and Williams County.

History

Mountrail County was formed in 1873. It was named after Joseph Mountraille, a then prominent visitors and guest in this area.
