Adams County (North Dakota)

Adams County is a county located in the state of North Dakota in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Hettinger.

Geography

The County is located in southwestern North Dakota, on the south by South Dakota and has an area of ​​2561 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Hettinger County, Grant County, Sioux County, Perkins County ( South Dakota), Harding County ( South Dakota), Bowman County and Slope County.

History

Adams County was formed on 14 April 1907 parts of the Hettinger County. It was named after John Quincy Adams, an American railway official and pioneers who built the railway line of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad through North Dakota.
