LaMoure County, North Dakota
The LaMoure County is a county located in the state of North Dakota in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat), La Moure.
Geography
The County is located in southeastern North Dakotam is in the south about 50 miles from South Dakota away and has an area of 2981 square kilometers, of which nine square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Stutsman County, Barnes County, Ransom County, Dickey County, McIntosh County and Logan County.
History
LaMoure County was formed in 1873. It was named after Judson LaMoure, an early politicians and legislators in the Dakota Territory and North Dakota.

According to the census in 2000 lived in LaMoure County 4,701 people in 1,942 households and 1,308 families. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 99.23 percent White, 0.02 percent African American, 0.13 percent Asian, and 0.11 percent from other races; 0.34 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.55 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 1,942 households out of which 27.5 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 60.5 percent were married couples living together, 4.0 percent were single mothers, 32.6 percent were non-families, 30.8 percent of all households and 16.6 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.99.
Based on the county the population was spread from 24.2 percent population under 18 years, 5.4 percent between 18 and 24 years, 23.0 percent between 25 and 44 years, 24.0 percent between 45 and 64 years and 23.4 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 102.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were statistically 100.7 males.
The median income for a household was $ 29,707, and the median income for a family was $ 36,495. Males have a median income of $ 26,351, women $ 17,500. The per capita income was $ 17,059. 14.7 percent of the population and 12.3 percent of families are below the poverty line. Of these, 16.3 percent were children and adolescents under age 18 and 12.9 percent were 65 or older.
