Stutsman County, North Dakota
Stutsman County is a county located in the state of North Dakota in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Jamestown.
Geography
The County is located in the central southeastern North Dakota and has an area of 5952 square kilometers, of which 199 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Foster County, Griggs County, Barnes County, LaMoure County, Logan County, Kidder County and Wells County.
History
Stutsman County was formed in 1873. It was named after Enos Stutsman.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Stutsman County 21 908 people in 8,954 households and 5,649 families. The population density was 4 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 97.53 percent White, 0.28 percent African American, 0.94 percent Native American, 0.37 percent Asian, 0.04 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 0.21 percent from other races groups; 0.64 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.93 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 8,954 households out of which 28.8 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 52.5 percent were married couples living together, 7.5 percent were single mothers, 36.9 percent were non-families, 32.7 percent of all households and 14.6 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.28 and the average family size was 2.89.
Based on the county the population was spread from 22.8 percent population under 18 years, 10.5 percent between 18 and 24 years, 25.7 percent between 25 and 44 years, 23.3 percent between 45 and 64 years and 17.6 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 96.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.2 men statistically.
The median income for a household was $ 33,848, and the median income for a family was $ 42,853. Males have a median income of $ 28,529, women $ 20,397. The per capita income was $ 17,706. 6.8 percent of families and 10.4 percent of families were below the poverty line. Of these, 13.0 percent were children or adolescents under age 18 and 10.5 percent of those 65 years.
