Pierce County is a county located in the state of North Dakota in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is rugby.

Geography

The County is located in north-central North Dakota and has an area of ​​2803 square kilometers, of which 167 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Rolette County, Towner County, Benson County, Wells County, Sheridan County, McHenry County and Bottineau County.

History

Pierce County was formed in 1887. It was named after Gilbert Ashville Pierce, a governor of the Dakota Territory and later U.S. Senator from North Dakota.
