Logan County (North Dakota)
Logan County is a county located in the state of North Dakota in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Napoleon.
Geography
The County is located southeast of the geographic center of North Dakota, about 50 miles from South Dakota is to the south away and has an area of 2619 square kilometers, of which 48 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Stutsman County, LaMoure County, McIntosh County, Emmons County and Kidder County.
History
Logan County was formed in 1873. It was named after John A. Logan, a U.S. senator from Illinois.

According to the census of 2000, there were 2,308 people in Logan County. Of these, 72 people were living in collective centers, the other inhabitants lived in 963 households, and 659 families. The population density was 1 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 99.2 percent white, 0.1 percent African American, 0.1 percent Native American, 0.2 percent Asian and 0.1 percent from other ethnic groups; 0.3 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.7 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 963 households out of which 25.8 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 63.1 percent were married couples living together, 3.1 percent were single mothers, 31.5 percent were non-families, 29.2 percent of all households and 16.0 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.32 and the average family size was 2.88.
Based on the county the population was spread from 22.6 percent population under 18 years, 3.6 percent between 18 and 24 years, 21.8 percent between 25 and 44 years, 25.0 percent between 45 and 64 years and 27.0 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 46 years. For every 100 females there were 98.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.6 men statistically.
The median income for a household was $ 27,986, and the median income for a family was $ 33,125. Males have a median income of $ 23,750, women $ 18,269. The per capita income was $ 16,947. 12.6 percent of families and 15.1 percent of families were below the poverty line. Of these, 16.2 percent were children or adolescents under age 18 and 18.8 percent of those 65 years.
