The Hettinger County is a county located in the state of North Dakota in the United States. In 2000, the County had 2,715 inhabitants with a population density of 0.9 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Mott.

Geography

The County is located in southwestern North Dakota, is located in the south about 45 km from the border of South Dakota and has an area of ​​2936 square kilometers, of which 4 square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Stark County, Grant County, Adams County and Slope County.

History

Hettinger County was formed in 1883. It was named after Tom Hettinger, the great-grandson of Erastus A. Williams, a government spokesman for the Dakota Territory.
