Geography

The County is located in southwestern North Dakota, is located in the south about 45 km from the border of South Dakota and has an area of ​​2936 square kilometers, of which 4 square kilometers of water surface. History

Hettinger County was formed in 1883. It was named after Tom Hettinger, the great-grandson of Erastus A. Williams, a government spokesman for the Dakota Territory.
