Goyencourt

Goyencourt ( Picard: Goéyincourt ) is a northern French village with 95 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier, is part of the Communauté de communes du Grand Roye Roye, in the canton.

Geography

The community is located approximately 3 km north-west of and immediately adjacent to the Roye road department D34. It is bounded to the south of the department of road D934 (formerly Route nationale 334) and to the east by the Autoroute A1 and parallel to run high-speed rail route of the LGV Nord.

History

In Goyencourt remains of a Gallo- Roman villa were found. In the Middle Ages, the town came under the rule of the monastery Ourscamp. In 1653 he was sacked in the conflicts of the Fronde of the Spanish army. During the First World War it was destroyed with the lock. The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
