Gülzow

Gülzow is a municipality in the district of Lauenburg, in Schleswig- Holstein.

Geography

Eight kilometers located in the west of the city of Geesthacht, in the south of Lauenburg / Elbe and the North Schwarzenbek.

Gülzow is divided into the districts Gülzow and New Gülzow, with new Gülzow is situated south-west. The two districts are two kilometers away from each other.

History

The village was mentioned in 1230 in Ratzeburg tithe register for the first time in a document. The Good Gülzow was for centuries belonged to the noble family Schack, from the Danish Field Marshal Hans Schack emerged. 1736 acquired Georg Ludwig von Kielmansegg the goods; the counts of Kielmansegg remained until 1930, owner of the goods. Since then, the estate is owned by the originating from Hamburg merchant family fishermen. The municipality belongs since 1948 to the Official Schwarzenbek country.

Of the 13 seats in the municipal council, the CDU has been the local elections 2008 eight seats and the SPD five.

Economy and infrastructure

Based on a conception of Schleswig Holstein for the restoration of basic services in the countryside a Markttreff in 2005 in Gülzow opened. The building is also used as a meeting place, archive and exhibition space.

In the list of cultural monuments in Gülzow ( Lauenburg ) are registered in the list of monuments of Schleswig- Holstein cultural monuments.

Religion

The Protestant St. Peter's parish includes the villages Gülzow Gülzow ( Kirchdorf ) Kollow, Krukow, Julius Castle and village school. The present church was completed in 1819.
