Lincoln County (Minnesota)

Lincoln County is a county located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. In 2010, the County had 5896 inhabitants and a population density of 4.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Ivanhoe.

Geography

The County is located in southwestern Minnesota, and is bordered to the west by South Dakota. It has an area of 1420 square kilometers, of which 30 square kilometers are water surface. At the Lincoln County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Lincoln County was formed on November 4, 1873 from parts of Lyon County. It was named after Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865), 16th President (1861-1865 ) of the United States.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2010 lived in Lincoln County 5896 people in 2570 households. The population density was 4.2 people per square kilometer. In the 2570 households lived statistically 2.24 per person.
