Fillmore County (Minnesota)

The Fillmore County is a county located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. In 2010, the County had 20,866 inhabitants and a population density of 9.4 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Preston, which was named after Luther Preston, an early mill owner in this area.

Geography

The County is located in southeastern Minnesota and on the south by Iowa. It has an area of ​​2233 square kilometers, of which two square miles are water. History

The Fillmore County was formed on March 5, 1853 from parts of Wabasha County. It was named for Millard Fillmore (1800-1874), who served as the 13th President of the United States from 1850 to 1853.
