Chippewa County (Minnesota)
The Chippewa County is a county located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. In 2010, the County had 12,441 inhabitants and a population density of 8.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters is located in Montevideo, which was named after the town in Uruguay.
Geography
The Chippewa County is located in the central south-west of Minnesota and is bounded on the southwest by Minnesota River. It is located in the west about 40 miles from South Dakota and has an area of 1522 square kilometers, of which 13 square kilometers are water surface. History
The Chippewa County was formed February 20, 1862 from portions of the now -defunct Davis County and the only surviving in Wisconsin Pierce County. It was named after the Chippewa River, which flows through the county.
